Dalmally
The mountainous backdrop to some of the holes is simply stunning on this short (4,516 yards) parkland course where it is a joy to watch your ball clearly rise and then descend against the spectacular scenery.
The layout is generally flat but the valley setting and mountains give it an enclosed, almost private, feel.
There are many interesting holes on the course but the standout is the par three third which is played through a shoot of trees and across the River Orchy that runs at an angle to the hole. At 175 yards this is both the most testing and enjoyable shot on the course.
Water hazards come into play at other holes too and must be negotiated in order to keep a score going. Most of the greens have subtle contours although a few are more pronounced with shallow steps in them.
A round at Dalmally is an enjoyable experience and one I would certainly recommend if passing through this beautiful part of the country.
